I'm not going to spoil the anticipation of non-subscribers but just to say that this is a really interesting issue! 
Lots more technical stuff (excellent) and a wide mix of bikes.
(OK, some of the bikes don't interest me much but I'm quite happily stuck in my own little time warp.  I've also realised how much older I am than most of the staff and contributors!)
Main good thing about CB - as opposed to some other magazines - is the quality of the writing and lack of padding/ waffle.
As to the choice of bikes;
You can please all of the people some of the time etc.
But a wide mix of ages and nationalities has to be a good start.

I agree absolutley,Velt it's the mix of everything that makes it like belonging to a big family,not just the mag but the forum as well.Can't wait for the August issue!

Yep, seems to be a particularly good issue this month.
And there seems to be a bit of an infiltration of forum members and their bikes too !
Not enough Guzzis though !
I had to laugh at Hugo's description of his first crash.
I was exactly the same - if Barry Sheene could take the Daytona banking at 170mph then there was absolutely no way that I had to slow down from 45mph on my FS1E !
Crash, Bang, Bounce, Scrape, OUCH !

Yep, seems to be a particularly good issue this month.
Damn you TMG, where did you buy your copy. I just used a gallon of petrol going around all the local magazine racks looking for the Aug issue  , none to be found

Yep I do like a T500. Mine was recently stolen by this fat, short, bald, middle-aged git (myself being the role model for Adonis of course ). Its rumoured he may have touted it out to CB for a feature, cheeky swine .

Actually it was great day, the sun was shining, the bike was just about running tolerably and the journo (Olly Crick) adapted to a 35 year old bike like a duck to water, after the initial shock (or lack of them lol). All in all a bit of laugh, which is a large slice of what playing with bikes is all about.

He seemed more worried about the lack of brakes !
Anyway, nice to see Forum Folks and their bikes in the magazine.

He was lucky he never got it over 60, front 2ls is effing useless. Certainly an area that needs further fettling (understatement).

It's odd, I had a '69 T500 Cobra many moons ago, and one of the most memorable things about it was the savage front brake !
Especially when compared to the godawful disc on the '78 GT250 I owned at the same time.
As for the brakes on the '73 650 Cossack Combo that shared garage space with them both !!!
And the featherbed framed Norton ES2 !
God I've owned some Sh*t bikes !
(Loved 'em all though ! - Except that ES2, and a BSA C15.)

The front brake should work better than it is, although in general the T500 2ls is not renown for its ability for stoppies . Yours may have had Ferodo AM4 (Green) racing brake linings, a common upgrade.
Olly Crick I suspect has more experience testing todays latest and greatest sporty bikes rather than "classics", but he certainly showed some fine riding style after only a few runs. My apologies to him for the crap brakes, they should have been better, the life of a bike tester has to have thrills one way or another though .

I've pretty much read through the magazine and it's a pretty good read throughout.
One bit jars slightly, but it only covers two pages.
Why give two pages to publicise a book of photos of hopelessly rusted wreckage ?
Perhaps there's a clue in the author's name ?
Andrew C Bauer !
Any connection with the new owners ?

I'm delighted to report that Andrew C Bauer is no relation to those who must be obeyed. You should have a look at his book though. It really is fantastic. If you like old bikes, you'll love it.

The Guzzi is just fine - I think she enjoyed getting a good run out. One or two niggling little rattles appear to have gone away now !
Nice meeting you guys - it's good to put faces to names.
All the best with your planned Katana racing - looks like you've picked up a bargain there, I hope it turns out to be as good once you start poking around inside it !
Give yourselves a good pat on the back for this months issue, it's one of the better ones - but then I generally find enough to enjoy in every issue.
I'm pleased that there's no connection between the Bauers - editorial interference would not be good.
I'll take your word for it on the book though - I don't think it's my sort of thing - and if I want to look at rusty bike bits then I can just go and look at the Guzzi !

I just this moment picked up my copy, a smashing issue for all tastes by the look of it. Now for a nice glass of Shiraz and getting stuck in for a good read.
