Can't believe it, got mine yesterday! got yours yet Smiffy? Interested to read the comments made by George Martin about Neil Russell's Moto Martin. I bought a c*r off George Martin, real straightup guy, but agree about that villain at Cobra Racing, he was a real wideboy!!

My thoughts at first, then I remember that the z650 was always considered a sweet handler, for it's time, and the XS650 mill is much more charismatic than a boring ol' four, so why not? Most people like Tritons, and it could be said that they are buggering up two bikes also!! Although, thanks to F3 racing there were a few engineless frames lying around back then.

Yep, and the engine in the XS650 was always better than the frame Yamaha put around it. It's not as if there are so few Z650s that the last remaining ones have to be preserved at all costs.

Got mine yesterday.
Ricks done a blinding job on the Triton.
The XS650 "Triton" is simply stunning too! I love it.
The Harris article is great reading. didn't know mat oxley was that old
Ruben Xaus's Duke 999 is still on the shelf at 75k quid. I still look longingly at that advert...
Promises to be a great read over the next few days... I'll try and prolong the pleasure... I wonder if there is a cream you can get for that? A dab of toothpaste on the end might be as effective as in other situations

Skip this bit if you want, it's dead predictable.......(Especially if you've read the other thread!)
I don't find the racing articles a problem, or even the inclusion of "neo-classics" etc.
However, the number of articles which I enjoy enough to re-read seems to be diminishing. Are they getting less technical than in previous years?
BUT, however great a bike it might be, that Japanese cafe-racer is no more a "Triton" than I am! Or my dog.
A TRIumph engine in a norTON frame is a Triton and NO OTHER combination of bits of whatever nationality! I am really disappointed in CB for perpetuating this nonsense.

As you said Velt, you are repeating yourself, maybe a strong letter to the editor on the subject and perhaps boycotting the magazine will give them some sleepless nights, and make you feel better! It's using the name "Triton" in a relative way, a nice motor in a nice frame? maybe that's streching your imagination a little. I think it's a nice bike and don't give a toss what the editor decides to call it. Loosen up a bit!

Hi Pete!
FF, I don't suppose my boycotting the magazine - or writing to Hugo - would have any effect at all.
CB is undoubtedly the market leader in it's field and I am disappointed at this lax use/ mis-use of English.
However, my opinion is more appropriately expressed on this thread than on the other - and I have apologised and warned anyone that it is predictable.
Maybe I should lighten up, sometimes.
