Christ, I DON'T !
Why bugger up two perfectly good bikes to make one worthless hybrid ?
My thoughts at first, then I remember that the z650 was always considered a sweet handler, for it's time, and the XS650 mill is much more charismatic than a boring ol' four, so why not? Most people like Tritons, and it could be said that they are buggering up two bikes also!! Although, thanks to F3 racing there were a few engineless frames lying around back then.
Yep, and the engine in the XS650 was always better than the frame Yamaha put around it. It's not as if there are so few Z650s that the last remaining ones have to be preserved at all costs.
It was on one of the display stands at Uttoxeter today - I liked it. Didn't buy the magazine until after I'd seen the bike - then it clicked what you've been talking about! Not a Triton though - I don't think there is any intention to pass it off as a Triton.

| I like it too, a really good job by the bloke.... It's the Magnum that's the dog in the current issue, it's just awful.

I thought the work done on the Z/XS Cafe Racer was quite well executed and the design flowed beautifully, it had proper stance and presence. I particularly like the tail fashioned out of a tank, very neat with its well positioned tail light.
The Harris story was also fascinating, how it started and evolved.
Excellent work on the Triton by Rick.
Look forward for the next issue.
