Hence the comment about the lobotomy.

If you've still got that copy of bike in the loft/garage/cellar you'll be able to identify my real name rather than my forum one. I always meant to write more for Bike but never seemed to get round to it.

I think your secret is safe with me.

If I have still got that article it is smowhere in the huge stack of magazines that needs sorting out.

Erm !

Fascinating as it all is - do you think you could take your digital tacho / diesel enfield conversation elsewhere, so that this thread can get back on topic ?

How's the Triton coming along Rick ?

Sorry, Gus, mea culpa!

Ah, 'tis the nature of the Forum - and geriatrics like me - to ramble off the point a bit.

On the other hand, my attempts to get people to discuss hanging on the"Bring back hanging " thread were not well received, so.......

:);):D:P:cool:

Sorry Gus, been busy with somebody's 1929 Terrot JAP for a few days. GLad you like the red/grey. It will look pretty stunning I reckon - despite being a home spray job. I was looking at it in the sun yesterday and the Monza red is such a vivid colour. Otherwise I am going to have to get a real push on. Next month's copy has gone in and the bottom end/gearbox is now all done and fitted. Hav to collect the cylinder from rebore next week and still fiddling with the head. Carbs, magneto, lights, cables wiring oil tank etc etc still to do. Haven't seen tank yet but my mate Dan who has resealed it (cut out bottom, sealed up damaged areas and put back together) has kindly offered to paint it too. PLating hopefully back early next week. Hugo says I have about two weeks to finish it. Hmmm.

I'm not a geriatric but I don't see any harm in wandering off the initial subject of the thread and it's not as if we're the only ones who do.

So, he took a 40 (ish) year old fibreglass tank of unknown quality and Just cut out the bottom, resealed it and put it back together did he ?

Why do I get the feeling that it was a LOT more complicated than that ?

I suspect Dan might just belong to that select band of Insufferably Talented B*stards !

(I also hate anyone who can play a musical instrument - B*stards !)

Had a small viewing of the Triton on my visit up North. Though not finished, was looking good, considering how it looked in the pictures at the start of the project.

Nice to see it all coming together.

Ferret's wiring is undoubtedly excellent, but at a cost - it's really not that difficult to wire up a bike from scratch.
I guess you are paying for a service.
As he says;
Whys pay out a fortune on paint and chrome and then skimp on the electrics ?
Your bike will run on sh*t chrome, try it with sh*t electrics.
(Fellow Guzzi owners need not reply !)

yeah, 400 quid is to say the least a touch on the expensive side, and that is as cheap as it comes..........A basic loom is dead simple  after all, my mate does all mine, it takes about 3-4 hour from scratch all the stuff including the correct crimpers (not that expensive) can be bought from vehicle wiring products it would cost quite a lot to do 1 bike (nowhere near £400) but very little more to do  three or four

As I said, I guess you are paying for the service - He comes to your home and does you a bespoke job.
Add to that folk's 'fear' of elecktrickery and you've got a business !
Fair Play to the guy is what I say, there are plenty of 'expert restorers' offering far shoddier service for vastly inferior service.
Long Live Ferret !

Looks quite nice too.
And they've already given it away.
But not to me apparently !
How did that happen ?

Had I been the winner, I can honestly say it would not be put on ebay.

I thought the winner wasn't being announced until the August issue comes out, in July of course.
