Well done:P

I put the head back on Hodgepodge, I hope the new head gasket is better than the last new head gasket, that was bollox:X. Today I will get the rest back together and fire the old girl up. I shall patiently await my new Main Jets in the gulag until 1600 the off to the shed.

Shame you're a bit far away James. The Blue Hills section of the round Cornwall rally is on on Saturday so I'm told, which I'll have to confirm. Thats the bit where they ride up the Blue Hills part right on the sea at St Agnes. I'll be taking tthe bike, flask and sandwiches there for a few hours, see whats happening. IF I remember to take camera I'll post some piccies.

I've just corrected the day. I thought it was Friday but been told it's Saturday.

today I took the Trumpet for a run out to collect a couple of gaskets for the Guzzi.. could've got them posted, but it wouldnt have been so much fun, and also couldnt guarantee I'd have them in my sweaty hand today!!!

first time I've been to North Leicester Motorcycles, purveyors of Morinis and other fine Italian motorcycles! had a look at their stock and was quite taken by a Morini Kanguro and , perversely some would say, a Guzzi N. Falcone Sahara, resplendent in brown/beige!!!  I managed to tear myself away with credit card in tact.. :D

ClassicMCnut<~~~~ Pratt pratt pratt.

Used the B175 the other day and left the petrol cock open. Today, found that the bike sump was flooded and as soon as I kicked over the bike so was the sparking plug. Huhhhh .......... I guess I shouldn't have done that. Dried it all out, kicked it over and it started 1st kick.

Lesson learned:: close the f*****g petrol cock when leaving bike overnight or longer. Didn't help I suppose either I left it on the sidestand instead of the centre stand which leant it over at an angle.

oh well at least you got it going Mcut! the important thing is, did you get out for a ride?????

today part deux - well after fitting the new gasket + valve cover to the Guzzi, it only seemed right to have a little test ride, and take some more pictures as the sun was shining!   anyway, part way through  the photo session (!) I was rudely interupted by a Hurricane going through its display routine above me!! :D  so ended up riding down to the airfield to watch him carry on doing his stuff, plus another Spitfire and the Dakota return.. and the sun kept on shining.. only downside was the horns packed up on the Guzzi so am gonna have to have the tank off as the relay is clickign but nothign comming out..

damn... wish I wrenched near an airfield with Hurri-birds and Spits zooming over my head... I'm envious:P

All I've got are F-15's, nothing so graceful as the WWII stuff.

Proper aircraft have guns on the front and flames at the back; well according to the ex RAF guys at work.

I prefer the piston engined stuff myself. This pitched up at work the other day. Would love to work on one.

Neil,

Do the pictures make your bike look loads better than it really is?

I only ask 'cos it looks spankingly gorgeous! Can I have it, please? :)

As do I, if it doesn't swing a prop I'm not very interested.

Yeahhhhhhhhhh (he says hesitantly) BUT I did love the sound of Vulcan, especially when it flew low then climbed using it's afterburners. THAT was something. Also liked Concorde.

Never had the priviledge of seeing a Vulcan in the air but I bet it was something. Still dream of seeing a Mosquito fly overhead and a Lanc...

good evening MCnut, actually i was quite close to you today, down the road in Truro then back up to Launceston and a lovely cross country jaunt to Tavistock then a dodge across the moors bypassing Plymouth via Bickleigh past 42 Commando and out to Ivybridge, just wish i was on one of the bikes not pedeling the Transit like mad.I thought i saw you coming into Tavistock like the clappers from the Yelverton direction,at first i just picked up that it was an old bike in olive drab with canvas panniers but when it passed me it was to big for a Bantam, was a 4 stroke ,and possibly a BSA or Matchless. With hindsight it would have been a tough and hardy MCnut that had piloted a Banty from Newquay to Tavistock via Dartmoor,Mrs MCnut would have to be rubbing surgical spirit on your b hind for a while before, and nappy rash cream after:shock:~~~~~~~~~~~:Dif you get to view the trial, keep an eye out for a couple of mates who are competing,Tristan White from Bodmin,Hillman Imp with i believe a golf gti motor and 2 of our club members,Paul Weston and copilot Doug Chipperfield, who may be on a trials outfit.

Spent all morning and half afternoon clearing out my smaller shed. It leans at a bit of an angle plus during the high winds the roofing felt got lifted off of it so I decided that I'll empty it completely, try and square it up, give it a paint inside and perhaps line the walls with polythene then refelt the roof, all ready for next winters project. Still looking round for a basketcase Tiger Cub but the prices of even a bad one are bloody ridiculous, however i got a few of the local bikers mates looking out for me over the summer. They tend to go to more auto jumbles than I do.
