thanks folks, i bought it to sell on but its so nice i will keep it for a while, strange thing happened on the way home from the mot, i was sitting at some lights in neutral with the clutch out , hands not even on the bars and all of a sudden the bike lurched forward a good couple of feet, like i'd been hit from behind.............i hadn't and the bike didn't stall just carried on ticking over as normal, perhaps it wasn't in neutral properly??? who knows, very odd

That was my thought, then I rememberd he owns a vincent, so says it all really.
Most bikes must seem cheap compared to one of them ...:P

Next to nothing on a bike like that I would class as around £1000, bet it was more like 4-5k though !

I think the right term Dudley would be "cheap", not next to nothing. (depending on how much you payed of course)

ok i take your point.... just because i have a vincent doesn't mean i have loads of cash, i'm just a normal s***kicker i just decided along with mrs dudley that when a few quid came our way i would invest it in a vincent, after all what good is it in a bank, i don't particularly believe in bikes as investments it just happens to be a happy coincidence that the price has gone sky high,  i could not afford one now thats for sure, i ride it regularly but the problem is you can't leave it anywhere........, its insured for 25000, unbelievable but as its a series B bike its probably worth more, ridiculous !!!

the sunbeam was 2500, i think that was cheap

Yup that counts as cheap!!

Kept an eye out for them for ages as I think they're wonderful, and scruffy examples (which yours looks far from - its a beaut) go for 3k upwards minters more like 4-4.5k

Grandad used to have one of those and it used to suffer clutch rod welding. The clutch rod would weld itself at one end. I believe that a mod came out to prevent it from happening.
