Does anyone know where I might be able to find a bolt-on conversion foot change unit for a 1932 Triumph Silent Scout please? Any help greatly appreciated! These are also used on other machines in the 1932 range as optional conversions but came as standard on the rare BS Sports models. Any other bits also welcome!
..also chasing a good quality tank mounted oil indicator as used on a number of Triumph machines in the 1930 -32 ranges.
Thanks heaps from down under!
Ken

No leads at all? This is the positive stop, bolt on unit that converts the hand change to foot change...any lead at all would be appreciated.

I'm sorry I cannot help with your enquiry, but you may be able to help with mine. I'm trying to positively identify a Triumph engine belonging to a friend. It is from the early '30's and could be from a Silent Scout B or BS. It is a 494cc OHV twin port single with inclined cylinder and oil tank at the front in the crankcases. It looks a bit like an NT but the drive for the magneto is through a gear train on the side where the cams and pushrods are. Could you post a photo of your BS, please?
Best regards,

Hi Are you able to provide me the engine numbers and letters please? I will pass this on to the Marque Specialist who will be able to positively identify this machine for you.

Hi guys, very interesting conversation but.......
Are you sure you want to be posting things like engine numbers on the public area of the Forum?
I'm sure most Forumites are honourable people - but not everyone with access to the internet is guaranteed to be honest!
Might it be a safer idea to edit them out and send them by Personal Message?
Of course, I might be making a fuss over nothing.
Welcome to the Funny Farm, both of you.

I belive this to be an early 1932 Silent Scout Model B (overhead valve model as you say). However when Peter responds to my query I will confirm his identification. Approx only 1000 of these models manufactured.
If it were to be a Silent Scout "Sports" it would have had "KS" before the engine number to identify the "BS" model.

Thanks very much Ken. I'm in touch directly with Peter and another gentleman in Germany who has a very nice example of one.

Hi
I don't think I can help you but have a question instead
Is the foot-hand conversion the same as the one used on Triumph NT 1932?
I'm looking for a three or four speed gearbox to that bike matked Exxxx or E4xxxx.
Anyone have any leads to fand such a gearbox?.
I'm restoring an NT from 32 and are missing gearbox, back stand and the proper levers for clutch and hand brake.

Hi. Yes the bolt on positive unit I am after will be the same as on the NT machine. The design of these positive stop units changed around 33 to 34.
I will do some homework on the gearbox you require and see if some of the parts I have here might help.

Good luck in your quest for parts, this is the condition I found my "B" Silent Scout it had been stored for many years in a hay shed, even though it looks rusty all the tinware was in remarkably sound condition and mostly there.

@ TriumphNT
You have a nice project to keep you both busy and poor
It took many years of swapmeets and chasing down leads to locate just one genuine clutch/front brake lever for mine.
