Could we have an issue that covers classic bikes for young beginners? Covering some 125s suitable for running on L plates (early bantams, ducati 125s, small hondas), and classics under 33BHP for newly qualified types. And perhaps some clarification of what you must legally do if the bike is over 33BHP. Preferably looking more at bikes with plenty of spares and support, easy to work on and are forgiving of newbie mistakes. And perhaps some suggestions on how to save money on insurance on these bikes?

Not trying to criticise here, just thought a constructive suggestion may be useful.

Any thoughts?

And, having just read another thread where this is being discussed, it would be nice to include a bit about which classic mopeds/small bikes 16 year olds can legally ride.

Yep, sounds like a good idea.

Many old Brits are under 33 bhp in reality.

Don't believe manufacturers' figures!

This is where clarification of the law would be handy. My motorcycle instructor told me that the police and insurance companies will take the manufacturers figures as gospel truth. Unless you can prove it is restricted, in the event of an accident/pulling over, you are nicked-end of. No consideration for age or dyno test. So quite what I'd do if I built a pre war special I've no idea

If you drag it over here first, the TUV would do a Dyno test during the pre-registration inspection, the values would be put in a German registration document, and they would be accepted upon re-import. A lot of bother, and quite expensive as they're a bunch of money grabbing little adolfs, generally.
