Getting back to REAL GP racing! All that drivel spouted by Parish, Cox and Sooozy about fuel price demo roadblocks, didn't happen. Friends of mine who went down for the GP de Catalunya had no trouble all weekend. They stay at Santa Suzanna on the coast and said they went up to Montmelo with no more traffic than usual both saturday & sunday and got out of the circuit without any problem and were back here by 2100 last night!! These commentators have just got to find something to say!

To be fair, they did show footage of lots of lorries queued up on the approach roads, and there have been news items about Spanish truck drivers staging protest and strike action on BBC news today.
Something was obviously going on.

| Today, maybe, but GP day there's always queues on the autoroute around Montmelo, I normally go down, this year was the first time I didn't since 2004. To get upwards of 110,000 people into that Stadium, there's got to be queues!!

The disappointing thing about the MotoGP these days is the shortage of teams/riders.
Only 13 finishers at this round ?
I could've trundled round on my rattly old Guzzi and scored points !
As for Tony Elias - that'll teach him to watch his pit boards !

That's what it's there for, enjoy it until someone in the "grey" brigade starts whinging, If "Stroking Boy" is still peaking a glance at us he'll have to be careful of his supervisor, like last year !!!!

Replying to myself ?
I've been thinking, and I reckon it's do-able !
The old Guzzi is running 850 barrels at the moment so it's eligible.
I reckon I could ride to the circuits, check the oil, check the tappets, tape up the lights and race !
I'd need to get some leather jeans to zip to my jacket, and I don't know whether my steel-toecaps are allowed, but I've got a pair of cowboy boots I could wear instead.
Also, can you still race in an open-faced helmet ?
But I think I could trundle around quietly at the back and still pick up more points than Randy DePuniet !
I'd need a bit of help getting to the Asian, Australian and American rounds.
Anyone want to sponsor me for next season ?

That sounds fair enough to me !
I could probably get you in as 'pit crew' if you don't mind having to bunk down with the 'brolly dollies' !

Ah Well !
That's Toseland's Donington weekend Banjaxed !
Two crashes in one lap at the end of qualifying.
The second one looked particularly impressive !
He's qualified 16th - back row of the grid.
Chris Vermeulen might be worth watching tomorrow - particularly if it's wet.

And what an outstanding race from James Toseland !
Following a Brit winner in the 125's, what could Toseland do in the Big Race ?
Fall off on the first corner !

Good job he can console himself with the knowledge he's got more riding skill and spirit in his little toe nail than you'll ever have in a lifetime of riding, then...

Well, I'll concede that point !
On the other hand, he's not competing with me, he's a two times World Champion, competing with the likes of Rossi, Stoner and Pederosa, and by that standard he put up a piss-poor performance.
As opposed to a 15 year old lad, on a privately entered Aprillia, who'd only raced at this level 7 times previously, stomped his name all over the 125cc race.
Well Done Scott Redding !

I agree, Scott Redding is a hero. Well done that boy. But none of us armchair pundits who, I hasten to add, would even be able to catch the likes of Toseland if he were on a slowing down lap, are in any position to call his performance 'piss-poor'. He gave it his all, it didn't work. He's not the first GP rider to fall at the first corner, and he won't be the last. Don't knock the lad, he's out there busting his balls against the best riders in the world, and his season up to now has been extremely impressive. He had two big offs yesterday and is probably bloody sore, so give him a break. :-)Last edited on Sun Jun 22nd, 2008 09:30 pm by peteyam

Look, he's supposed to be pretty tasty on a bike, the bike is pretty good - his team mate finished 4th, but he binned it on the first bend and came in a lap behind the likes of Randy DePuniet !
I'm sure even Toseland himself would consider that PISS-POOR !
As for myself. I've shared track time with the likes of Jamie Whitham, Ray Stringer, Niall Mackenzie, and even, MANY years ago, when he raced bikes, Damon Hill, so I know how piss-poor I am !

| Had he finished last by trundling around without incident then, yes, that might be fall under the description of 'piss-poor', but he crashed, remounted and rode to the flag, minus most of his right footpeg, and with a battered right hand. That's not 'piss-poor', that's gutsy.

Nope, he trundled around at the back, hoping that dePuniet, De Angelis and possibly Melandri would do him a favour and fall off so that he'd score a measly point by default !
I think he must've been reading my earlier comments about entering myself on this thread !

Yeah, and you could ride at full pace with a broken footrest. Maybe you should get your entry in for Assen. We could all do with a laugh

oh put your handbags away guys!
(although i personally think it was piss poor, he should stop playing the bloody national anthem before the race, leave the fancy leathers to rossi and concentrate on racing abit more.)

Rule No.1 in racing:
You don't win races on the first corner. You can sure as hell lose them though !
You can bang on all day about how I couldn't ride around with a busted footrest, but, if James 'PissPoor' Toseland hadn't crashed at the first corner he wouldn't have had to !
Even he admits he was a Twat !
