So I was thinking...
Would there be a market in the West for Classic Biking Holidays in Thailand?
For 1 week of your two week break would you enjoy unlimited mileage on a classic Honda step-thru?
With bikes between 32 and 47 years old, obviously they are lovingly maintained by an enthusiast but for a very modest sum you can rent the bike and have an intinary planned for a 7 night tour of traditional Thailand.
Tell me in advance what type of environment and food and accomdation you like and I will put together a one week package that you can enjoy on a suitable classic bike.
Package will include bike maintenance, insurance, and accomodation costs and will come with your personalised intinary. You will pay in addition for fuel and food (where food is not included with accomodation - this will be clearly marked out for you)
There are many beautiful historic towns to visit and you can even venture across the boarder (leaving the bike in Thailand of course) to Cambodia or Laos!
Depending on how many minutes or hours you can endure in the saddle there are Breath-taking waterfalls, huge Zoos, mountains, rivers, Temples, traditional Thai homes, Western Shopping Malls. Western Food outlets. street markets, night markets, traditional shows (dance and music) as well as Bike Rallys, night clubs, bars restaurants etc...
I wonder if the classic biker would appreciate this service. Bikes would be around £100 for the week. with a deposit paid in advance for security, say £250.
Emergency number for breakdown or accident with access to English speaking contact.
You could fly to Bangkok and be given instructions on how to take the Air Conditioned Taxi to the Air Conditioned coach that will bring you the 250kms to Korat (with refresments) where you will be met. (this would cost you under £4 or for £35 you can take a taxi all the way!)
Accomodation will range from Camping (tent and 2 sleeping bags supplied with suitable bike!) to luxury hotels with full facilities including internet so you can tell everyone on the forum Loz was not kidding.
Full Luxury option (7 nights in classy hotels) would run to about £350
modest hotels and a couple of nights camping would be around £200
Prices quoted are plus flight and plus transfer to Korat.
You'd see a side of Thailand that is well off the beaten track. You would meet some fo the nicest Thai people I've met and eat a mixture of local and western foods depending on your sense of adventure and tastes. You'd have a great time pootling around on classic bikes which make for great photo opportunites. You'd be welcomed by the Thai community as they would recognise a fellow classic bike enthusiast, bikes are a way fo life in thailand and when you join in people love to engage with you and they have very warm hearts.
What do you think?
I know, I know... its too cheap!

| Seems like retirement really isn't your thing, I would love to do it, but I'm not so sure about the Hondas, how about the Beesa in stead? Last edited on Tue Feb 27th, 2007 11:15 am by Frankfurt-Beesa

Under the illusion that there were free shifters on offer, as part of "Loztours Thai adventure" package, bodgers were queuing around the block to apply.
