I don't know if Becks will let me do this, so if I'm in the wrong Becks my apologies.
If anyone is intending to come Cornwall way this summer for a biking holiday and has bike trouble and needs help, I got to reccommend you try Camelford Bike Bits in Camelford. It's a father and son olde worlde Bikey shoppe but there is very little they don't know between them about all bikes, British, Jap, German atc. If anyone intends coming this way and want their telephone number for emergencies please don't hesitate to ask.

I see nothing wrong with a bit of advice on available assistance in your area.
I doubt Becky will mind after all you're not trying to sell a brand new swing arm vindaloo BB31 with extra silent engine but sadly noisy carbs.
Useful info is a fine thing 'cos theres rarely a yellow pages lyin about at the side of twisty cornwallian country roads.
And so if anybody is coming past Frankfurt and has a blowout on the autobahn I know the local Tyre Expert, he speaks english and rides Nortons and a Velocette Venom.
If you just need assistance getting drunk send me a PM and I'll fill the fridge at the shed.

Hi ClassicMCnut
I remember a good few years back when a lad called Alan Benelleck started classic racing(think he was into hill climbing etc before that)he was sponsered by Camelford.
His style and bike ruffled a few feathers within the Classic Racing Club, great watching him taking the mountain on the back wheel at Cadwell on his Triumph which had straight bars and banana seat.
Think he went on to do modern stuff and raced on the Island.

Everytime I've been to Kernow it's been in a car, those roads look A-mazing for bikes, someday I'll venture down there on 2 wheels, right to the end, or at least the fence next to the end!

| Went there in the 80's. Was it the same people then? Me and the missus used to tour Cornwall on my CM250T, with wedges of luggage as well. We based ourselves at St Teath which is just up the road from Camelford. Was a useful shop a couple of times. I take it thats the shop on the left as you head out of Camelford going towards Wadebridge?

Used to holiday in Cornwall during the Seventies. Awe inspiring views, but I didn't care much for the food. Couldn't get a decent steak for love nor money. Mrs CJ lost her hat to the wind in St Ives harbour. Haven't been back since.

You can ride all around Cornwall without venturing onto a dual carriageway, but on the other hand if you want a blast you can ride the complete length of the county, from Launceston to Hayle ON dual carriageway, depends what turns you on. Spring this year they should be opening up the new dual carriageway that created the bottleneck along Gossmoor, from Bodmin to Newquay. In the winter, which is usually mild we have the roads to ourselves just about, hardly any cameras and very very few traffic cops and you can usually see them a mile off. However the above does NOT apply to Plymouth. You enter Plymouth and stick to the speed limits, they got cameras every bloody where.

| Camelford Bike Bits is just as you enter the town from the St Teeth end on the right. There is a small lay by opposite it. Old fashioned front to it, looks like an auto jumble but the interior contains all the goodies you need to keep you on the road.

Believe me cj times have changed, they've had to to keep people coming back. They even have flush toilets and showers now on the camping sites, no need for the Memsab to dig a hole to go to the toilet anymore. The pubs down here sell great ale and their meals have improved no end since I moved down here 20 years ago.

the means of transit IS not important, the friendship and buddiness of fellow shedologists visiting is the prime directive. If you're heading this way on a pogo stick while wearing a funny hat and a red nose, you're welcome (particularly if on pogo stick, funny hat & red nose ).
All true shedologists are welcome to visit me and my shed.
