Yup,

The wiff of oil and the stench of smokin' rubber has dragged me back to the classics!

Warning this thread refers to cars:

As you will know the climate in Thailand is changeable with politics being like a new toy to those notionally in power. So the economy has become more unstable than usual. Good time not to have assets tied up here. So with that in mind I've sold off the Yaris (little darlin' that it was) and bought a Car that cost less than my laptop!

Mitsubishi's Lancer SL

A metalic brown less sporty version of the above...

Popular out here with the drift community, this one was deemed to nice to modify and so I snapped it up as road going bargain and the best part is......YES!! It has a big boot much better for my golf clubs! I'm in danger of messing myself....:P

Just thought I'd share the happiness. Ps it is also a great deterrent to gold diggers. Now I look like Farang Key nok... which someone can translate for you if need be.

Happy trails!

Loz

It means "Thai in Pohnay"

Not sure whay you'd say that....:?

Khon Thai me nisai mai dee is a better way of expressing Mcunutty's point above though. I'm sure we wouldn't love the thais as much if they weren't so down to earth though... 555+

(555+ = ha ha ha + in Thai...)

Yes! My brother from an another mother. ;)

Drift-tastic potential... already discussing engine swaps with the local DK* that I bought it from. He's gonna become a great friend, you know that feeling. people that make everything easy and none of the usual shinola... Great.

Oh, and I just found out I have taught his Daughter also. Small world.

A friend of ours had one of those. It had that 70s plastic smell. It wasn't bad to drive either.

They are factory originals though, Hooli.

And you do get used to them. They are right for the period. Not sure it left the factory that low, but I like it and don't want to change the look, the ride however might benefit from coilovers. (on the list)

My major challenge at the moment is deciding if I should film the windows. From a heat perspective, it is almost compulsory out here. But it looks more old school with the everso slightly tinted factory look. I would go for dark brown or black (NOT MIRRORED)...

What do you think?

small sacrifice from originality for the sake of huge increase in comfort.

id want door mirrors, maybe the bullet chrome style ones on brit sportscars had. they looked good on lotus 'tinas after all & its a similar shape. windows? i prefer light tints & agree NEVER mirrored, i'd expect it'd look ok with smoked but not black windows.

I have always found wing mounted mirrors preferable to door mirrors on c*rs, it's easier to include the mirror in your field of view without moving your eyes too far from the road ahead..

I once drove a Mercedes with both, which was a bit of overkill!

But the classic bullet shaped (or similar) definitely look best to me.

I'll keep the mirrors for now but if owt turns my head I might be open to a change. As for tints, you've hit it Hooli! Smoked is the way to go, cheers!

What do you think about low pros on those 13" rims. Its a funny look but I am keen to try it.

cant you get say 15"s for it? big enough to handle, small enough not to look stupid. i used to run a XR4i with pug gti 15"s on, handled great & still had a bit of ride quality. mind you it was gutted, slammed & just bucket seats so the ride didnt matter too much  not the mention the LSD stopped understeer ;)

I veiwed it first time with 16s and it looked nice but just not right. Old cars had small wheels. they just look "period". In a good way.
