Be prepared to be stirred to the very depths of your soul. Englishmen where ever you are, stand proud and think of your home country, never deny your birth place, your origins or your unalienable right to work in your sheds till it's past midnight and you should be tucked up in bed.
Quite possibly the most evocative piece ever written

Brian Wilson, doing his "Thunderbirds are Go" puppet impersonations, unforgettable, looked like someone took him out of the morgue and set him up on stage!!

Yep very good Ash. ............ I also like Pomp and Circumstance and a couple of others like The Ride of the Valkerys and a little known piece that is associated with the Guards Brigade... Lillibolero. Never seem to see that one nowadays.
Interesting bit of music is always at the end of Sharp. Sung by the guy that plays the marksman in the series. Over the hills and far away, or King George commands and we obey, something like that.

Thanks Ash, very good. The ONE musical I love is Les Miserables. I have both the video and the tape of their anniversary performance at the Royal Albert Hall. Fanbloodytastic. It has to be the version with Colm Wilkinson as Jean Valjean and Ruthie Henshall in it. ALL the songs really are fantastic if you have never seen it.
I'm sending you a PM on a completely different subject.

ASH...PLEASE
Do you have a recording of a Flo and Eddy monologe about a little bit of carpet for my sofa...finishes with a version of sofa...I heard it once at a party and the guy said it was a one and only.....I really would like to get it as Ive been searching for about 20 years for it...
Suppose being ignored is either a way of saying no or I havent got it. A simple no would do it

Cheers Ash, it was your thread that got me thinking.....
I couldn't find anything on youtube about Flo and Eddie's sofa - lots about the Mothers of invention and the Turtles to do with Flo and Eddie - I don't understand any of that but still.......
but I found this
"See me Feel me" by The Who at Woodstock - not just a bunch of mods!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m7AHblQ3_oM
Pinball Wizard
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lf60_kExwXk
Or from the Isle of Wight - 'cos it's not cut short at the end like that video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=poezx4BSj6Q
Joan Baez "Ballad of Joe Hill" and "Swing Low Sweet Chariot" bear with the mini political speech that starts it. This is ****ing amazingly beautiful singing.
Even better than Vera Lynn, i.m.h.o.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MizbFId5UtE
Nothing to do with Woodstock - or any other tune on here - but listen to this if you've never heard it!!! Mike Bloomfield, Steve Stills Al Kooper, Super Session "Stop" one of my favourite tunes ever!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrh5VujHJl4
Another all time favourite - Rory Gallagher with the presciently titled "Too much alcohol" Greatest Irish blues player!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z1zsRRt1FWE
I had the pleasure of seeing "Taste" several times, including at the Marquee (c.1968/9?) when Rory turned off his guitar amp and played acoustic in front of banks of silent Marshall amps/ speakers." You could have heard a pin drop. Unforgettably courageous!
I've seen these guys there as well, same era.
Ten Years After "I'm going home" - if you like your electric Blues on speed and loud
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHw9b4BBV9Y
Colosseum "Theme for an imaginary western" another favourite band - (No "Lost Angeles" on Youtube unfortunately)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjsF80ZRYGE
some of you might remember the lead singer from this Chris Farlowe "Out of Time"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNyAzuB1-rE
Or this" Paint it black"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xhs2SxYQZ_I
Or this "Handbags and gladrags" before Rod Stewart knicked it!

Morning Velt. Some great posts there but I have to admit I didn't fancy the
Chris Farlow track at all. He's got a great voice but that just didn't do it for me. On the other hand-Alvin Lee Going home is one hell of a track and he's a great guitarist!
They did a Woodstock Revival tour last year in Germany (Minus Alvin Lee) with Gratefull Dead, Canned Heat & Country Joe McDonald and they played locally at
Osterdode Stadt halle but we were full and couldn't go which was a heavy bummer.
Back to Mountain for a mo. Leslie West is some motherf***er of a guitarist when he's on it!!!! that's for sure . I saw Mountain as the Colleseum in the Strand in the 70's and he used his Gibson Flying V most of the evening. It took about 3 days for my ears to stop ringing .
That's a grerat clip of the Who at Woodstock as well. Woodstock Directors cut is a regular player on the old DVD machine in the bar of an evening. I spent most of 1970, 71, 72 watching the film at out local fleapit in Ware, Herts with all my music mates. The owner was a right old hippy and had loads of concert stuff on.
Cheers ash
PS. I think somebody posted some Humble Pie on here not so long ago and that reminds me that I saw Steve Marriot at the Walkern Village Hall (a tiny place just outside Stevenage) a few years back with his Allstar band. A fantastic night and only a few months before he dies in the well publicised house fire.

Great track there Velton, musically sounded identical if you didn't know any better, though the vocals you could tell it wasn't EC. Didn't have time to listen to the others, but will tonight .
Damn good thread going here
