Can I please ask everyone that when they post pictures to keep them below approx 640x640 pixels.

From speaking to people it can be a little frustrating having to scroll through loads of pics to read the posts, or even scroll sideways because the pics are too large.

Another way of posting pics is to use Photobucket or ImageShack. Both are free to join and very easy to use.

http://www.photobucket.com
http://imageshack.us/

Once you've created an account with Photobucket, it will bring up a screen where you can start uploading pictures.
Choose the pic you want to upload. It will then bring up your picture as a thumbnail with three links underneath it (URL link, HTML tag & IMG code).
Click on the edit button above your picture, and then click on Resize. It will give you several options - Avatar, thumbnail, website email, message board.

Choose either thumbnail or message board and it will automatically re-size the pic for you.

All you need to do now is to copy and paste the IMG code (on the right of the pic) into the post you are doing on the forum. When you hit preview or send your pic will appear the correct size.

It probably sounds very complicated, but trust me it is very easy. Have a go, it's a great way of re-sizing you pics for forums.

Photobucket will give you loads of other tips and help but here's the basics.

Happy uploading everyone!

Becky :)

Becky, I have done everything that is shown in your post, but Classic Bike does not allow me to "Preview" my new Post, or "Post" it. What am I not doing or doing wrong?  Bigboy308

Sorry I haven't got back to you, haven't been able to get on the forum for a few days.
Is this when you go to start a new post or reply? Or is it just when you are trying to post a pic from Photobucket etc?

I have been trying to post from photobucket--I paste the picture (reduced to 640x600), try to Preview, NOTHING---same with SEND----nothing.  I have waited up to five minutes and nothing happens.  Forum does not want me to post, I guess. I have no clue what I am doing wrong.  Any advice appreciated.  Thanx.

are you trying to copy and paste the picture itself, rather than just copying the bit of text that starts with 'IMG'..  copy and paste the picture wont work..   theres also a problem with the forum at the moment whereby it appears that a post hasnt been 'posted' when in fact it has - hence the number of double/triple posts...

Neil

Problem is posting a picture using photobucket.  I am also having a difficult time with this reply. After pasting the picture from Photobucket, rediced to 640x600  I can not "review" or "post".  NOTHING happens. I'm sorry, I just can't figure what I am doing wrong.

This is the second try to post this reply.  Timed out on first try.

Absolutely easiest way is:

1. Go to picture in photobucket

2. Right click on picture

3. Click on properties

4. from this window select address (URL) text and copy ctrl+c

5. click on little insert image icon at top of editor (top row,4th from right)

6 paste Image URL into the pop-up window and OK.

Image linked

Alternative is

It is also possible to resize photos in photobucket when a picture is Huge you can knock it down to ideal 640*480 size  with a click.

copying the handy available links in photobucket can cause problems as all sorts of junk html/php is added for your 'convenience'.

Hi Folks,
Just adding my fourpennorth (about 1 1/2p in Funny Money !)

Photobucket, although a good free host for your photo's is not actually very forum friendly, they tend to have bandwidth issues with large, or fast moving forums.
Imageshack on the other hand has no such problems.
Flickr is also pretty good.

For resizing and optimising my photo's I use Gimp which is free to download open source alternative to photoshop. It's available here :
