Here are some general tips for using the forum, on questions that have come up so far.
If anyone wants to add anything please do so
There is a quick 'How To' guide on the forum which can be found by clicking on the green "Help" button at the top right of your screen.
Here are some other issues that might crop up:
Q: Is there anyway of getting to see the new postings without having to scroll through the old ones?
A: If you click on the little black arrow after the name of the last poster then it take you straight to the last post, and you can scroll back as far as necessary
Q: How can I change the order of posts, to newest first?
A: If you click the 'post' header, it will sort replies in date and time order, except for the 'sticky' ones
Q: How can I search for all the posts I have made?
A: If you click on your username it brings up a menu that starts with view profile. Click on that and it will let you see all your posts and threads
Q: How do I edit my profile?
A: Click on the green My Account button on the top right, then click on Profile. Change the details as required and then save

Would it be
1) possible
2) a good idea
to list all the threads in each Section of the Forum in date order?
So that we can see quickly and easily what has been added.
Or is there already a way to do this that I don't know?

Hi velton
Each user can change whether the posts appear in order of latest to oldest or vice versa.
You can also view posts by who made them etc.
At the moment if you go into a forum you should see a black arrow against the header Posts. Usually this is pointing up. You can change this by clicking in Posts and it will reverse the order the posts are listed.
If you want to view by the person who started them just click on Started By and the arrow will appear there.
The same goes for Topic etc.
Does this make sense, and it is what you mean?

Wow, now that's a prompt response.
Yes and no, Becky.
What I was wondering about is the possiblity of listing - at least in each separate Forum - the most recent posts in reply to threads.
So that it is immediately obvious what posts have been added to any/ every thread since I last logged on.
I'll send you a Message suggesting an example of another Forum I use sometimes so that you can see an example.

Hmm, not too sure.
You can watch certain forums and topics/threads personally so maybe that;s one way.
One thing I go by is what colour the blobs are beside each thread in a forum. If they are yellow, then they have had posts added since I last viewed them. If they are still green since I last looked then they haven't had any new posts.
If they're red it just shows it's a popular topic.
If they're yellow then they will also show a black arrow next to it, which when you click on will take you to the new posts in that topic that you haven;t read yet.
Does that anwser any more?

That certainly helps, Becky, I didn't know about the colour coding thing.
It's not quite what I meant, though.
Many thanks .

Velton, re the PM you sent, is the "Recent" tab on the homepage similar to what you mean?
It lists all the recent posts and tell you what forum they are in?

Yep, Becky, that seems to be what I was looking for! Never have learned to look under my nose first.
Many thanks, B
