Gent,s, I purchased a 500 H1 D, mach 3 last year, GVH 350L, frame no H1F12257,eng no KAE82115, registered 01/05/1973, I am the 5th owner and I have detail,s of the previous 2 owner,s, how could I track the 1st 2 owner,s of this bike please ? I believe the reg to be from Huddersfield, also in the July 07 issue in fixe,s and tip,s there is an article regarding a ,73 tax exempt Triumph, so should my mach 3 be tax exempt ? as it was probably made in ,72 if so how do I go about changing this, I have also been told that in ,73 only 20 plus mach 3,s were imported in the uk and my bike is one of those, many thank,s for your help.

Regards,

Geoff Hand

Greetings Geoff from "[size= Lincolnshire.]", welcome to the forum, if your bike was made before jan 1st '73, then I;m sure it will be tax exempt. Just a matter of proving it I suppose. Dunno how you tracy previous owners.

Dunno if you've got an answer to this but Rick Brett (http://www.classickawasaki.com/) will be able to provide a manufacture date for your H1D.

If it was made before 23:59 on the 31/12/1972 then she will be a historic vehicle and have zero rated road tax. Don't be surprised if your H1D was made after that though; mine was :(

You'll have to go along to your local DVLA office armed with the dating certificate and they'll change the taxation class. I did this for my Z1 and it was surprisingly painless :)
