Never seen one were you can post vid clips before! This is me yesterday on successful completion of engine transplant and carb and top end rebuild of my BSA M20 (WD) circa 1939. Aside from my gran, it's the oldest thing I have... of course, you'll never see me riding my Gran on a sunny day in Korat (Thailand!)

Hi everyone, I'm Michael, live in the Lakes, got a couple of modern Ducati's but have just started my first restoration project, a Laverda Montjuic from 1981 so expect some real dumb ass questions from me
big thanks to Becky for running this, I set-up a website for Ducati owners in the North and Scotland, Ducati UpNorth and added a forum as well so i know how much work goes into keeping it all going

Hi all. Glad to see this forum and enjoy reading Classic Bike to catch a glimpse of how things are done on that side of the pond. I love Brit Bikes although my current project is a 1969 Suzuki T350.

East Anglian, London exile here. Got a CB750, Cb125T and a ZXR400H1, all 80's vintage. I've had, amongst others, Vespa 90, C50, XL100, CM250T, CB400F, XJ600 and an SV650 (best of the moderns by far).
Hope to get all Italian at some point with a Guzzi or a Duke. Possibly a small Brit like a C15.
Only really joined to chat to the gorgeous Sally P though!!

Hello I bought your magazine on the weekend for the first time and have become a fan already.
My wife, 3 kids and I live in Melbourne Australia and we have terrific roads not far from the CBD for touring (the list of which I am working through each weekend).
I became interested in motorcycling a couple of years ago. On a whimsy I bought a '75 Honda CB250 non-runner off Ebay for pittance and spent the next 8 months trying to get it to run (much frustration with electrics and carbs.....created twice as many problems as required fixing (and fixed these ones too) but huge learning curve.) It now runs brilliantly and is great for fanging it around country lanes or industrial estates.
I have recently purchased a 1985 Yamaha XJ900 (off Ebay, also for a pittance) for Sunday morning outings so my need for speed is sated (what a great bike for touring around the Victorian countryside).
Although underpowered compared to the Yamaha, the Honda still has a place in my heart because it taught me so much about basic repair and maintenance.
I look forward to my next issue of Classic Bike. I like reading through motorcycle dossiers and technical articles (the articles about the virtues of British motorcycles were a great read).
I feel that I am getting a "black thumb" (the greasy version of a "green thumb") in developing my knowledge base both by rote and through trial and error.
If anyone wants me to attend a Melbourne/Victorian motorcycle event and contribute photos, articles etc I am more than happy to oblige! (It gives me an excuse to spend more time in and around my hobby!)
witchbitch wrote: Well I got here at last, although I couldn't register with my normal e-mail address, and when I went to hotmail I'd used up my normal usernames on bike fora. It wouldn't let me use them, saying they were taken, but I didn't get the activation e-mails either. I hope I can remember this one.
Now I'm here I have nothing useful to say. I don't ride classic bikes, only scrappy old ones, but at least they're cheap.
My email identified the activation emails as spam and put them in the spam folder.
Wow a great forum with some great bikes, I'm working on some pictures of my bikes (computer munched them!) they are a 1980 CX500 as my runaround, and a 1983 BMW K100. The CX I've owned since 1998 (US import), and the BMW since 1992, this bike was purchased from someone at work who owned it from new, and laid it up from 1985 till I bought it. Not everyones cup of tea, but I love it

Just signed up for the board today. Good to see another forum for vintage iron. Even see a few familiar names here from other vintage sites. Hopefully they haven't warned you about me before I arrived
I am from Ohio in the the States. Have owned at least one BSA my entire adult life.... Have been through my fair share of BSA's, Triumph's, and one Norton. Also have had Bultaco's and Husqvarana's - when they were Swedish built! I have only ever owned one Japanese bike, a Yamaha TY350 which still is being used as an off road ride.
Currently have 3 BSA's on the road - 68 Lightning, 65 Lightning Clubman, and a 66 Victor. With a 59 Godlen Flash awaiting it's turn on the table. One of these ays, I might even work on a 71 T120 that is taking up space
I've included a picture of my 68 Lightning from a numbe ro fyears ago when it still had "western bars" installed. It now has much more comfortable home market bars

Baldyman, only just noticed this. You are evidently unaware that whole bucket-loads of Polyfilla are employed before each CB photoshoot, AND I get Adrian to let me choose the pictures.
But if you were after some mana you got some.

Hello, signed in at last. I'm 63, retired & back riding a british bike. I've been riding bikes since 1961, the first being a B S A C15. I'm now riding a Bonneville T100, Hinckley one, which replaced a Honda Blackbird. Quite a difficult decision but definately the right one.

Good to see another Brit rider on here. Getting rid of the rice cooker for a real bike does make one feel good all over generally. We must persuade the boy racers to follow suit.

I see that activation e-mails are like buses. From the day I tried to register I've just received 3 all at once. It's a good job I have schizophrenic characteristics or I could confuse myself.
Yeah when I first tried to register I didnt get an e-mail, so I registered again on my other e-mail and it came through straight away. Six days later I get two activation e-mails for the first one.
I wondered if it was because my main address is a yahoo one and my private one is from my ISP. I know some sites wont accept web based addresses and want ISP based ones. Maybee the answer
